Ivrea Carnival Pictures - Orange Throwing Carnevale di Ivrea
Pictures from the last day of the carnival festival

From Martha Bakerjian, About.com

One of the more fascinating carnival celebrations in Italy is the Ivrea Carnival, or Carnevale di Ivrea. Here are some pictures from the 2006 Ivrea Carnival.

It starts with the selling of the red hats, right outside the train station, then progresses to a parade with all the characters, then to each section's piazza, for an orange throwing war. Later, the Scarli, a tall pole covered with dried branches, will be set afire. Then you eat.
