Cremona, a city in northern Italy's Lombardy region, is famous for its artisan high-quality violins but it also has a picturesque historic center that makes it well worth a visit. The Torrazzo, or bell tower, houses the world's largest astronomical clock, is the second-tallest brick bell tower in Europe, and is Italy's tallest medieval structure. You can climb to the top for fantastic views. Cremona's Duomo and Baptistery are excellent examples of Romanesque-Gothic architecture.
Cremona can easily be visited as a day trip from Milan or is a pleasant place to spend a night or two. Find out more in our Cremona Travel Guide.
