The Vasari Corridor in Florence is a unique elevated walkway connecting the Pitti Palace to the Palazzo Vecchio and Uffizi. Built in 1564 by Giorgio Vasari for the Medici family, this amazing hidden passage is almost one kilometer long. It starts at the Uffizi Gallery (the offices where the Grand Duke worked), crosses the Arno River above the shops of Ponte Vecchio, goes through the Church of Santa Felicita, and along housetops until it ends in the Boboli Gardens and apartments of Pitti Palace (where the Grand Duke lived).
The Vasari Corridor can only be seen on special guided visits with a limited number of participants. Reservations are required and can be made by calling +39 055 294883 or by booking a tour such as Select Italy's Vassari Corridor Tour (booking information) that also includes an introductory tour of the Uffizi Gallery (with no waiting in line).
