Enjoy our Lake Garda pictures taken from the pretty town of Peschiera del Garda. Lake Garda, in northern Italy, is the largest and most visited Italian lake. Peschiera del Garda is on the southeastern shore (see Lake Garda map).
Peschiera del Garda's historic center is enclosed by 16th century walls. First used as a fortress in the 6th century, the Venetians built a fortress here in 1556 and later it was used by the Austrians. The small town has several canals, a few walking streets lined with shops, and bars and restaurants. Outside the walls there are beaches, walking paths along the lake, a train station, and a harbor with ferries serving other Lake Garda towns.
