Hotel Residenza in Farnese is a beautiful 4-star hotel in a former monastery. The hotel is in a good yet quiet location in historic Rome, near Campo dei Fiori and the Tiber River, within walking distance of restaurants, bars, and shops. The rooms and common areas are pleasant and nicely furnished although some of the rooms are a bit small.
Rome's des Artistes offers both a 3-star hotel with comfortable, pleasant ensuite rooms and a hostel with dorm rooms and shared baths near Termini Station, Rome's main railway station. The hotel rooms are quiet, air-conditioned and a good value for Rome.
The Daphne Inn offers surprisingly affordable, air-conditioned lodging in the heart of old Rome combined with personal service designed to make your stay in Rome an extremely pleasant one. This review is posted on Europe for Visitors but I spent two nights at the Daphne and was very impressed. I highly recommend the Daphne for first time visitors to Rome as the staff provides lots of help to make you feel comfortable and confident. They have two locations, near the Trevi Fountain and off Via Veneto.
Quiet, air-conditioned apartments with kitchenettes in a former monastery in the heart of Rome. I stayed a week at Palazzo al Velabro and was very comfortable. Many of the rooms have balconies and views. There is staff available to help you and optional breakfast is served daily. This accommodation is especially good for families.
Starhotels Metropole Hotel is a four star luxury hotel near Termini Station. The large hotel is quiet, air-conditioned, and very comfortable and has modern amenities. The review is on Europe for Visitors but I stayed here myself.
Friends recommended the Hotel Lirico where they stayed for four nights. They said the hotel was quiet, the staff were very friendly and helpful, and it's in a great location by the Opera theatre and not far from the train station. The hotel is in a historic building and has air-conditioning and internet.
