The Battistero or Baptistery, an octagonal building with a facade of pink Verona Marble constructed between 1196 and 1270 by Benedetto Antelami, overshadows the nearby Duomo for the tourist's interest. Inside are an array of 13 and 14th century frescoes and paintings.
