Modena is well known for its good food. Filled tortellini are a traditional first course. Here the tortellini is covered with Parmigiano Reggiano cheese and Balsamic vinegar of Modena. Pork dishes are also common on the Modenese menu. A meal in Modena is usually accompanied by Lambrusco, a sparkling red wine (much better than what we used to get in the United States).
Here we're dining at Taverna dei Servi, Via dei Servi, 37, in Modena's center. The restaurant serves typical Modenese cuisine and is open for lunch and dinner except Tuesdays. There aren't many restaurants in the historic center of Modena and most of them seemed to be closed in summer but Taverna dei Servi is an excellent choice.
