Take a virtual tour of Montecatini Alto with our Montecatini Alto pictures. The medieval town of Montecatini Alto sits on the hill above Montecatini Terme, a top Italian spa town in central Tuscany (see Montecatini map).
The best way to arrive in Montecatini Alto is to take the historic funicular railway, shown in the first photo) up the hill from Montecatini Terme. There you'll easily find the main square, Piazza Giusti, in the center. The two parts of the town are built on small hills on either side of the piazza, topped by remains of two small fortresses. In town are several cafes, restaurants, and souvenir shops. From the edges of town you'll see beautiful views of the Tuscan countryside.
