The town of Urbania

James Martin
Country House Parco Ducale offers bed and breakfast in a relaxing setting with a pool, garden and play area, and nice common rooms that can be used by the guests. The Parco Ducale makes a good base for exploring the charming towns and beautiful scenery of Le Marche region.

Parco Ducale Location

Country House Parco Ducale is about one kilometer outside the pleasant and lively town of Urbania in central Italy's Le Marche region (see Le Marche map). Urbania has several good restaurants, shops, and bars. It's an easy, flat walk into Urbania, which is itself flat and easy to walk around. The Parco Ducale sits next to a stately building that was the Duke's hunting lodge, the Barco Ducale. Surrounding the Barco Ducale were the Duke's hunting grounds.

Urbania and the Parco Ducale are about 40km from the Adriatic coast and 150km from Florence. The closest train station is at Pesaro on the coast where there are buses connecting to Urbania. The closest airports are Rimini or Ancona (see Italy airports map).

The Country House occupies a recently restored 19th century building that was a farm house and the adjacent building that was once a tobacco drying room. A terrace with tables runs along the front of the main building. Inside is a small bar and large guest sitting room with TV and reading material. Also downstairs is the pleasant breakfast room. The buffet breakfast includes homemade cakes or pastries.

Most of the rooms are upstairs and there are a few in the annex as well. Besides the six double rooms, there are five suites with kitchenettes, ideal for families. Traditional decor, such as stone floors and wooden ceiling beams, enhance the rooms. All rooms have private bath, refrigerator, and air conditioning (very welcome in summer) and heating.

The country house is set in spacious grounds with a pool, garden, picnic tables, play area, and parking. It's really the best of both worlds - in a country setting with easy access to town.
