As you approach Bomarzo by car, you are amazed at the site of it when the road makes a turn that suddenly thrusts the town into your view. On closer inspection, you'll find that Bomarzo is a rather tattered hill town tumbling down a tufa ridge overlooking the sacred wood and stone monsters of Bomarzo park. Walking the town in the heat of summer seems eerie, as if something is wrong and you can't put your finger on it. There are few tourist amenities here. We ate at a signposted restaurant out of the old town frequented by locals and the police. It was nothing special, but cheap.
