Pictures of Pavia, Italy
Gallery of Images from the Lombardy town of Pavia, south of Milano

By , About.com Guide

Pavia was founded on the bank of the Ticino river more than 2000 years ago. Pavia has a rich artistic heritage, and there's a lot to see.

Pavia is located a half hour train ride south of Milano (see Lombardy region map). It can be cheaper to stay in Pavia and ride the train to Milano to see Italy's fashion capital. Five minutes away from Pavia is the Certosa di Pavia, famous for its monastery founded in 1396 by Gian Galeazzo Visconti, taking over two centuries to build. For more information about visiting Pavia, see our Pavia Travel Guide.
