Pavia Picture: Regisole Statue in Piazzo del Duomo Pavia

The equestrian statue called Regisole was done by Francesco Messina in 1937. It's considered one of his finest works, representing a Roman emperor in a reproduction of an ancient statue destroyed during the Jacobin uprisings. The Duomo in front is of brick, but it should have had a multi-colored marble facing.
