Piazza Farnese Pictures - Rome, Italy
Join us for a short walk around the Piazza Farnese in Rome

From Martha Bakerjian, About.com

The Piazza Farnese has recently become one of our favorite piazzas. It is wide open, with a variety of interesting streets forking off in all directions. Two oddly compelling bathtub fountains, their giant tubs swiped from the Baths of Caracalla, form interesting meeting points in the empty piazza.

Years ago, the entire piazza was a car park, and an ugly one at that. With the cars out of the way, it is a fine and quiet place to stroll, yet just a few meters from the bustle of the Campo dei Fiore, and a short walk from the Piazza Navonna.

All this makes the Piazza Farnese a great place to stay near. The area is safe (The Palazzo Farnese, which is the centerpiece of the piazza, is the French Embassy, so it gets more than its share of police protection) and the places nearby will keep walkers busy for weeks.
