Rome's
Palazzo delle Esposizioni, exhibits palace, opened to the public in 2007 after being closed five years for restoration. The 1883 neo-classical building is Rome's largest exhibit venue with 10,000 square meters of exhibition space hosting temporary art exhibits. The
Palazzo delle Esposizioni has a theater, lecture hall, cafe, book and gift shop, and restaurant with a bar.
Visiting the Palazzo delle Esposizioni
- Entrance locations: Via Nazionale, 194, and Via Milano, 9.
- Transportation: Take Metro A to the Repubblica stop or Metro B to the Cavour stop. By bus, these lines, 64-70-71-116T-117-170-640-H, arrive at the Nazionale/Palazzo Esposizioni bus stop. From Piazza dei Cinquecento, in front of Termini train station, take the bus towards Piazza Venezia for four stops to Nazionale/Palazzo Esposizioni stop.
- Hours: Opens Tuesday - Sunday at 10am, closes at 8pm or 10:30pm on Friday and Saturday. Closed Monday
- Ticket price: 12 euro, 9 euro for those under 26 or over 65 (as of 2/2008). Free the first Wednesday of the month for visitors under 30.
- Tours: Audioguides are available in English for 5 euro. Guided tours, for groups of 12 people - 25 people, are available in Italian, English, French, German and Spanish by arrangement made on Wednesday of the week prior to your visit.
- Restaurant hours: Open Colonna Restaurant, in the conservatory and terrace, serves lunch from 12:00 to 3:30 and dinner from 7:30pm to 11:30, closed Mondays. The restaurant's bar is open from 11:00am until midnight. Use the Via Milano entrance for the restaurant.
- Cafe: The Bookàbar Café, open the same hours as the palazzo, serves drinks, snacks, and light meals. It's connected to the bookshop via a rotunda and opens onto a small garden. There's also an internal garden where you can see the restored Church of San Vitale.
