Sardinia, or Sardegna, is a fascinating and beautiful island off the west coast of mainland Italy. Sardinia is steeped in tradition and different from the rest of Italy. Famous for the Costa Smerelda, or Emerald Coast, there's lots more to see on the island. From its beautiful coasts and beaches to the interior mountains, small cities, and wealth of archaeological sites, Sardinia offers a diverse range of scenery and activities. Cagliari, the largest city on the island, can be reached by ferry or airplane (Find flights to Cagliari Airport) and is a good place to start your visit.
