The Sagra of Saint Efisio is one of the most important traditional cultural events on Sardinia. It celebrates the legend of Saint Efisio saving the citizens of Cagliari, Sardinia's principal city, from the plague in 1652. The procession starts on May 1 with a huge parade in Cagliari and continues to the church of Saint Efisio, an amazing procession with colorful floats, people in costume, and music.
