Modica, Sicily Pictures
Baroque Town in Southeastern Sicily

From Martha Bakerjian, About.com

Enjoy our pictures of Modica, a Baroque town in the southeast of Sicily. The area, including Noto, Ragusa, and Scicli is sometimes called the Baroque Valley and has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage site. Following a devastating earthquake in 1693, these towns were rebuilt in Sicilian Baroque style. Besides Baroque architecture, Modica is known for chocolate and its main street has several good chocolate shops.
