The Capotaormina was wonderful, a huge hotel set out on a cliff, very comfortable room with a terrace overlooking a garden. We arrived in the evening and it was magical, looking out at the lights in the distance and the sea.
One outstanding feature of this hotel was the big rooftop terrace with amazing plants and gardens, candlelit tables and a piano player singing romantic love songs late into the night. Looking far down from the terrace on the floodlit sea and pool and the lights of Sicily in the distance, I have never seen anything quite so spectacular, it was like a movie set.
There was an elevator that went down several floors, it left you inside the mountain and you walked thru a cave tunnel, which had a great spa and led you out to the private swimming beach and restaurant, the other tunnel led to the saltwater infinity pool overlooking the water and had another bar and restaurant.
The hotel included a good buffet breakfast for no extra charge. The Capo had a huge variety of food. You could choose from a spa type foods to eggs, bacon, cheeses, hams, 10 different types of pastry, fresh fruit, champagne, etc.
We'll go back there again for a longer time.
