Trattoria Torricelli was the perfect place to spend a rainy Sunday. Families, Police officers working long hours, and solo diners like me filled the place by 1:15. I dug in to Tagliatelle al Castagne al Sugo di Anatra, Chestnut Pasta with Duck Sauce, followed by Nocette di Agnello Tartufate, 3 thick double lamb chops stacked over roast potatoes and artichokes, with a truffled sauce. Fabulous, especially with a glass of Spanna, a wine that comes from around the Lake Maggiore communities of Arona and Stresa.

Comment by Luca Signorelli "Happy you liked the Torricelli, its a very nice place thats little known outside Torino. Given the success of my first suggestion, here are other two":
Casa Vicina
Its excellent, a serious, elegant place of very high quality Piemontese cuisine. The ambient is modern but not impersonal or lifeless. Its not cheap, but worth the price.
via Massena 66 (at the corner with Corso Sommeriller, not far from the Torricelli)
Le Antiche Sere (The Ancient Evenings)
Another suggestion of completely different tone - you must
give a try to. This is one of the last authentic family owned trattorie piemontesi here in Torino (there are other places like this, but you must go outside the city - this is the real deal, not some sort of well done imitation). The cuisine is hardcore piemontese of the family type (not a lot of choice but all excellent). Check their stinco di maiale al forno, its a local legend. Great wine and great atmosphere, you must try it. Its a frequented place so you must reserve a place.
