Verona Card

Roman Arena in Verona

If you want to visit more than one tourist attraction in Verona, you'll save money by buying a Verona Card, an all-inclusive ticket to most attractions, museums, and churches. Verona Cards are good for one or three calendar days (2009 prices 10 euro or 15 euro). Admission to most tourist attractions is 6 euro, although a few are less, so buying a card is a smart way to save money and you won't have to buy tickets at each site. On my day in Verona I would have spent 32 euro to visit the 7 attractions I went to with my card.

Tourist Attractions and Museums on the Verona Card

  • Roman Arena
  • Lamberti Tower (extra one euro charge for elevator)
  • Juliet's House (there's no charge to see the famous balcony)
  • Juliet's Tomb and Fresco Museum
  • Roman Theater and Archeology Museum
  • Castelvecchio - Castle and Museum
  • Cathedral (Duomo) Complex
  • Church of Santa Anastasia
  • Church of San Fermo
  • Church of San Zeno
  • Lapidary Musuem
  • Natural History Museum
  • Radio Museum

Free bus travel within Verona is also included with the card. This list is current in 2009 and may change. Check the current Verona Card list online.

How to Buy and Use the Verona Card

The Verona Card can be purchased at the ticket office of most of these attractions although you cannot buy it at the Lamberti Tower. Some hotels and tobacconist shops also sell them. Once you have the card you don't need to buy any tickets, just show your card and the ticket taker will mark off the attraction. Admission is free to attractions for children under 8 and to churches for children under 12.

When you buy a card it will be stamped with the date. Note that cards are not good for 24 hours but only for the calendar day so it's a good idea to buy it in the morning. Most sites open at 8:30 AM and close at 7:30PM and are closed Monday mornings but hours may vary. Churches have shorter opening hours and cannot be visited Sunday mornings or during other services. Check current hours on the Verona Card site.
