What do you write about in your blog?
My blog covers Abruzzo and just about anything else that touches my life. I include recipes, places that I visit in the local area, musings on the differences between life in the US and life in Italy, musings on motherhood, and anything that comes to mind.
Why Did You Start Your Blog?
I basically started my blog because I wanted to make people aware of this beautiful and unappreciated part of Italy. I started off talking about places I had visited in the local region, typical local products and differences that I encountered between Italy and my home in the United States. Then, when I became pregnant, the blog evolved some more to include my experiences here in Italy both as an expectant mother and the mother of a young child. I expect as things progress that my blog will evolve even more, but once my child is a little older I hope to return to visiting those out of the way places here in my corner of Abruzzo so that I can introduce them to other people.
Advice
- Abruzzo is a beautiful region and is still very "Italian" since it's not as commercial as other areas. Renting a car is a necessity here. Especially since there are so many hidden gems - small churches up in the mountains, ruins of castles, beautiful typical Italian mountain towns - to visit that can't be reached by bus or train. And, definitely make reservations at hotels because many of them are family owned and operated and have a limited number or rooms. The Abruzzo people are very open and friendly to visitors, so come on over!
