Why this is My Top Pick for Tuscany
Cortona was and is the most authentic Italy we have experienced, from the monastery at the top (yr. 1000) to each layer of Cortona built below (from 1100 thru present). You walk down the cobblestone drive and alleys smelling the natural ingredients from that region (Tuscany) more importantly from the surrounding's farms and ranches. Dozens of local wines (Prosecco is our favorite). Prices no more than in Texas for Dinner and Lunches to be found at the local hang outs priced really reasonable. Pork ! Beef ! Boar ! Rabbit! Pasta like you have never experienced !
Advice
- We stayed at San Sivestro just 2 km form Cortona, a 3 bedroom 2 bath once a 700 yr. old monastery. Palo & Carla & Momma Bietolini make it a destination to be enjoyed, a very special & helpful family. We rate San Silvestro a 5 stars in Heart!
- Palo & Carla are very well connected and can advise you on where to go and what to see, a must see is Siena & Assisi within a hour drive.
